October 22, 1956 - May 29, 2023
Leonard Roy Sullivan, "Roy" passed away Monday, May 29, 2023 at the University of Chicago hospital as the result of a motorcycle accident. He is survived by his partner, Paula Kay, sons, Ryan (Marie) Sullivan, Joshua Cox, siblings Dan (Kim) Nelson, Dale (Sherri) Nelson, Jill (Bill) Walsh and Michael (Jessica) Sullivan and grandsons, Nathan Cox, Merle Cox and Roy Cox. Roy also leaves behind his beloved dog, Baco and cat Floki.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, George Sullivan, Dorothy Nelson, step father Edward Nelson and grandson, Joseph Cox.
Roy lived most of his life in the Portage, Indiana area. He was owner operator of Sullivan Trucking, hauling steel to and from Detroit and many other places. He was a member of the Invaders Motorcycle Club, and enjoyed going on bike runs and other events with his club brothers. Roy had a green thumb and grew many plants and had an amazing garden. He also loved to cook, always learning new recipes to try. Roy often said, "Remember the moments." He believed life was all about the little things and enjoyed each day to its fullest.
Roy gave the gift of a better life to Gift of Hope through eye, skin, bone and tissue donation. Cremation services handled by Edmonds and Evans, Portage, Indiana. A private memorial is being planned by the family.
